Hamburg City Weekend Workshop
Decoding Fine Art & Celebrating the Architecture Design
A compact, hands-on, yet in-depth 3-day workshop
We are announcing a 3-day Fine-art architectural photography workshop in Hamburg, Germany, from August 15 to August 17, 2025. Arguably, THE city in Germany with the most eclectic mix of classic and modern architectural gems.
After attending this workshop, with like-minded people in an inspiring (and fun) group, you will have gained valuable insights into fine art and architectural photography that go beyond the superficial and the mainstream. Read some testimonials here for an impression. And read here more about the concepts behind the City Workshops.
Two New Types of Workshops
Having made a comeback after 10 years by conducting successful workshops in Berlin and then in Barcelona/Madrid/Valencia, Joel Tjintjelaar is announcing 2 new architectural workshops. A more compact City Weekend workshop and simultaneously, a Multi-City Premium Workshop (formerly known as RAW Architecture Workshops), which is a more in-depth and immersive workshop. Click here for more background info on both workshops. Click here for the announcement of the Multi-City Premium workshop.
3 Days with in-depth practical and theoretical information
We will spend 3 days on location in Hamburg to only photograph and apply what has been learned via the 180+-page syllabus you will receive and the pre-workshop Zoom session a week before the workshop in Hamburg starts. The syllabus, Zoom sessions, and videos will go in-depth on fine art photography, advanced composition techniques for architecture that are rarely taught, complemented by unique innovations Joel developed himself.
Pre-Workshop and Post-Workshop online sessions
The workshop on location in Hamburg is preceded by a 3.5-hour pre-workshop Zoom session to prepare optimally for Hamburg. As a Post-workshop, there will be 1 processing and Image review Zoom session. Possibly followed by a bonus 2nd session.
Strictly Artistic
We never visit the ubiquitous landmarks anywhere in the world, instead, we will have a meaningful mix of architectural structures that carry historical, cultural, or aesthetic meaning to understand and emphasize the importance of an emotional connection with what we wish to photograph and express. In other words, we are not looking for pretty Instagram images, but for structures to connect with emotionally and express ourselves artistically. Practical information is below.
